The Northern part of Nigeria has been plagued with the ideals of early child marriage and this although seems to be a custom and tradition, it isn’t taken lightly by the rest of the country and the world.
People are of the view that teenagers shouldn’t be forced into marriage against their wish, especially as they are too young for the rigors and complications of childbirth and reproductive system malfunction.
They can get infected, fall gravely ill or even die in worse cases.
Some years ago, not too far, popular actress, Stephanie Linus produced and acted in a movie titled “Dry” which also talks about the complications of early marriage on the girl child and how it can lead to infertility and other related stigmas.
